Steven Michael Hood Age: 29 years A resident of rural Vienna, IL. Passed away Saturday morning, June 14, 2008, at 4:20 AM at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY following an extended illness. Steven was born September 8, 1978 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the son of Wendell Eugene Hood and Karen June (Aaron) Hood. Steven was united in marriage to Carrie J. Vinson on June 2, 2001 in Gatlinburg, TN. She survives. Other survivors include: a Daughter - Alexandra Leigh Pratis of Vienna, IL a Son - Aaron Michael Hood of Vienna, IL His Mother & Step Father - Karen & Dillard Scruggs of Vienna, IL 2 Sisters - Tracey Lynn Hood Bettinger of Metropolis, IL Breanna Hood Fields of Pensacola, FL a Brother - James Wesley "Jim" Hood of Vienna, IL Grandmothers - Joy Maxine (Cullum) Aaron of Carterville, IL Wanda Lee (Johns) Villias and her husband Angelo of Okeechobee, FL Step Grandfather - Otha Scruggs of Crewe, VA Step Grandmother - Mary Scruggs of Crewe, VA Step Great Grandfather - Glenn Parent - Marion, IL Nieces & Nephews, including - Stephanie Lynn Bettinger & Rebecca June Bettinger Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other relatives & many dear friends. Steven was preceded in death by: His Father - Wendell Eugene Hood Grandfathers - Wesley E. "Gene" Hood James L. Aaron Step Grandmother - Gwendlyn (Chaffin) Stanley Steven was a 1997 graduate of Vienna High School. From February 1999 until May 2005, Steven served in the United States Navy. He attained the rank of E-5 (Electrical Technician, 2nd Class Petty Officer). In August 2007, Steven graduated from John A. Logan Community College with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Steven loved working with electronics and computers. Steven was a member of the Cypress United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, June 18, 2008, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be accorded. Friends may call after 5 PM Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
