Ricky Earl Reynolds

Ricky Earl Reynolds, 73, of Vienna, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:33 pm at SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Ricky was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 8, 1952 to Howard Reynolds and Eunice (Morefield) Ellis. Ricky married Janice Cross on March 30, 1996 at the Reynoldsburg Church in Tunnel Hill, and together they have enjoyed 29 years of marriage. He attended Murphysboro High School and later got his Associates Degree in Coal Mining Technology at John A. Logan College. Ricky proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and was a retired Chief Hull Maintenance Technician. Ricky retired in 2007 from Southeastern Illinois College where he worked as a teacher of Auto Mechanics and Custodial Maintenance at Shawnee Correctional Center in Vienna, Illinois. He loved classic hot rods and enjoyed restoring them. His last project was his 1972 El Camino. He loved traveling and seeing the world with his wife. He loved to camp and fish. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Larry Reynolds, and his step-son Bradley Funk. Ricky is survived by his wife Janice Reynolds, his sons Nicholas (Carrie) Reynolds of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Jacob (Marilyn) Reynolds of Marion, Illinois, step-son Chris Funk of Vienna, Illinois, bonus daughter Sonny Bagby of Vienna, Illinois. Brothers, Howard (Pat) Reynolds of Dowel, Illinois, Kevin (Susie) Reynolds of Cambria, Illinois, Randy (Pam) Reynolds of Murphysboro, Illinois, sisters Rhonda Ponde and Karen (Bill) Childers all of Murphysboro, Illinois. Grandchildren Tyler Byrnes, Christy Wilson, Cody Reynolds, Nicole Reynolds, Cody Kelley, Luke Lynn, Jada Reynolds, Ricky Reynolds, Cole Funk, Clayton Funk and Sandra Bagby. A funeral service honoring the life of Ricky Earl Reynolds will be conducted on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 3 pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will follow at Vienna Fraternal Cemetery with military honors presented by members of the Navy Detail Unit and Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-3 pm at the funeral home.
