UPDATE: DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL NOW BE HELD AT TAYLOR METHODIST CHURCH RATHER THAN AT THE GRAVESIDE. THERE WILL BE A TIME OF FELLOWSHIP WITH LIGHT REFRESHMENTS FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. In memory of Richard O. Holland of Vienna, Illinois. Richard passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, May 09, 2025, in Elgin, Illinois. Richard was 90 years old. A Graveside service will be conducted Friday afternoon, May 16th, at 2 P.M. at Taylor United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5760 US Highway 45N, Vienna, Illinois. Brother Bill Littrell will officiate. Those attending the service are invited to gather at the cemetery at 1:45 P.M. Friday. Military honors will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222. Interment will follow. Box 695, Vienna, Illinois 62995 Richard was born on April 29, 1935, in Ozark, Illinois, the son of Omer and Beulah (Taylor) Holland. He served in the United States Air Force from October 1952 through September of 1957 where he was an airplane electrical and electronics technician. Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia (Ross) Holland, daughter, Terri Lynn (Holland) Streich, son in law, David Streich, sister, Lois (Holland) Kerley, and sister, Lee Ann (Holland) Cremeens, along with five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Their daughter, Sandi (Holland) Unser, passed away at 60 years old in November 2024. Also, Richard was preceded in death is his father, Omer “Pid” Holland, mother, Beulah Holland, and brother, Linden (Lindy) Holland. He was remembered for his wit and great sense of humor but was more of a private person in general demeanor. He was a hardworking and a loyal employee last retiring from TWA (Trans World Airlines) at nearly 30 years as a maintenance mechanic. In life, he enjoyed time with Patricia (Pat) where they travel trailer camped, went on various adventures (loved Hawaii), and enjoyed motorcycling, coupled with time with his family. He also loved to meet a group of guys at McDonalds daily for breakfast, and enjoyed lunch (dinner), and dinners (supper) out with Pat. He loved their animals, their home (on the hill) in Vienna, and time on their front porch. Although residing up north for many years (South Elgin, Illinois), Richard always thought of Vienna as “home”, and when retired moved back to the area. Richard will be truly missed by his loved ones.
