Reginald Joseph "Reggie" Romine

Reginald Joseph “Reggie” Romine, age 94 years, a resident of Danville, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, July 26, 2024, at 10:47 P.M. at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. Reggie was born April 17, 1930 in Tuscola, Illinois. He was the fifth of six children born to Fred and Daisy (Nelson) Romine. On February 3, 1951, Reggie was united in marriage to Elaine Webb at the former Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (now Community of Christ) near Tunnel Hill, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2021. Together, Reggie and Elaine had shared over 70 years of marriage. Reggie is survived by: his children – Dennis (Julie) Romine of Union, Illinois, Terry Romine of Washington, D.C., Dan (Pam) Romine of Seattle, Washington, and Jennifer (Clint Ourso) Romine of Champaign, Illinois; 6 grandsons; 5 great granddaughters; 2 great grandsons; a sister – Joanna Romine of Newport, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Reggie was preceded in death by - 2 brothers and sisters-in-law – Harrison (Betty) Romine and Billy (Ruby) Romine; and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law – Redith (Bill) Langdon and Helen (Floy) Pelletier. Reggie served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois. Reggie had a long and distinguished career as the purchasing agent for Lauhoff Grain Company in Danville, Illinois, prior to his retirement. Reggie was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 332 in Danville, Illinois. He was also a volunteer at Forest Glen Nature Preserve in Vermilion County Illinois. He was a member of the National Audubon Society. Reggie loved to feed and watch the wildlife in his yard, particularly the birds and deer. He was a proud member of the “purple thumb club” at Sleepy Creek Vineyards, near Fairmount, Illinois. A service honoring the life of Reginald J. Romine will be conducted Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2024, at 2 P.M. at Community of Christ, 5170 Tunnel Hill Road, Tunnel Hill, Illinois 62972. Dr. Glenn Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Webb Cemetery, near Tunnel Hill. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 1 P.M. until the service hour at 2 P.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, 805 West DeYoung Street, Suite B, Marion, Illinois 62959.
