Phillip J. Rotan

Phillip J. Rotan "Fabulous Phil" Age: 64 years A resident of rural Vienna, IL Passed away on December 12, 2009 at 2:05 AM at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was born on April 24, 1945 in Hinsdale, IL to John and Olga (Janchenko) Rotan. Phil was one of four children. He was confirmed on May 17th 1959 into the Evangelical Covenant Church in Hinsdale, IL. He married Joann Accidentael in 1967 and later married Elaine Test at the Methodist Church in Vienna on November 11, 2000. She survives. Other survivors include: His Mother - Olga Rotan of Tucson, AZ His Sons - John and Tammie Rotan of Naperville, IL Todd and Dorothy Test of Vienna, IL His Daughter - Sonya and Gary Carlton of Vienna, IL A Sister - Arlene and Jake Schroeder of Tucson, AZ 2 Brothers - John and Faith Rotan of Barrington, IL Richard and Arnette Rotan of Lake of Egypt, IL A Sister-in-Law - Kathy and Dean Harper of Tunnel Hill, IL A Brother-in-Law - Dr. Richard and Jeanne McKenzie of New Burnside, IL 6 Grandchildren - Bonnie, Ashley, Tiffany and Phillip Rotan of Naperville, IL Haven Test of Vienna, IL and Morgan Racey Test of Anna, IL 2 Great Grandchildren - Paige Sterling Groner of Buncombe, IL and Vontae Anderson of Naperville, IL His Father, John Rotan and his beloved Granddaughter, Lauren Carlton precedes him in death. Phil was also blessed with a host of Nieces, Nephews and many friends. Phil was raised in Hinsdale where he went to school and later joined the US Army earning him the sharpshooter's medal and ending rank of SP4 when he was honorably discharged in September of 1968. He had then acquired the god given talent of hardwood flooring thus becoming the owner and operator of "Fabulous Floors" for over 40 years. He moved to Lake of Egypt in 1990 and moved his business with him. He continued working his business and after the marriage to Elaine, they purchased land, making a home and residing on Old Metropolis Road until his death. During his time here on Earth, Phil enjoyed making people happy. He was the contributing factor along with a whole bunch of volunteers, in orchestrating "The Fabulous Floor Fireworks Frenzy" until his illness began in 2005. He played many rounds of golf, went four wheeling and especially enjoyed his time with special friends Tom Preumer and Jay Tinges. Phil will be missed by all who loved him and his humor and zest for life can not be replaced. Visitation will be at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from 5 PM - 9 PM. Per Phil's request, there will be no services. Cremation will follow the visitation. A eulogy will be given at the funeral home at 8 PM for all that would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heather Harper Treat Memorial Cancer Fund or to Lourdes Hospice, Paducah, KY.
