Norma was born August 9, 1932 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the fourth of five children born to Robert King Kite and Onie (Drinnon) Kite. On January 26, 1957, Norma was united in marriage to Euel Eldon Sharp, Sr. in Corpus Christi, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2005. Norma is survived by: her children – Iris Haby of Gracey, Kentucky, Dorothy Bacon of Simpson, Illinois, Euel E. (Tambra Cain) Sharp, Jr. of Vienna, Illinois, Loretta Sharp of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren – John (Toni) Bacon III, Danica (Joshua) Hebert, Sarah (Cody Hosfeldt) Cain, Robert Sharp, Ashton Rambo-Sharp, and Marley Sharp; great grandchildren – Natalie (fiancé – Mark Moore) Hebert, John “Jeb” Bacon IV, Teagan Bacon, and Madison “Maddie” Bacon; a sister-in-law – Wanda Florey of Vienna; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by a son-in-law – Lawrence Haby; and her siblings – Harvey Kite, Emma Lee, Julia Stembridge, and Evelyn Bell. Norma served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until her honorable discharge in 1957. Norma was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading and completing crossword, word search and logic books. Norma had also worked at the former Mount Shelter Care Home as an aide and activities director. She was a faithful member of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star in Vienna. She was initiated April 14, 1994 and served as Worthy Matron in 2001, 2007, and 2013. She also served as Worthy Matron for one year at the former Banner Chapter as well as at Anna Star Chapter, where she held dual memberships. Norma was a member of the First Families of Tennessee as well as the Western United Cherokee Association. She was proud of her Native American heritage. Norma was of the Baptist faith. Graveside Eastern Star rites will be accorded Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Rock Springs Cemetery, 9124 IL State Route 147, Simpson, Illinois. Interment will follow. Those attending the service are invited to dress casually and comfortably and gather at the cemetery at 12:45 P.M. Wednesday. There will be no public visitation.
