Naomi Simmons

Naomi Lee Simmons Age: 89 A resident of rural Ozark, IL. Passed away Friday afternoon, June 5, 2009, at 4:01 PM at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin, IL. Naomi was born March 12, 1920 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois. She was the daughter of James McHugh and Ethel (Burklow) McHugh. Naomi was united in marriage to Andrew Jackson "Jack" Simmons on October 4, 1941 in Charleston, Missouri. He survives. Other survivors include: 3 Daughters - Donna Choate, and her husband Bill, of Ozark ,IL Linda Bundren of Marion, IL Kathy Murphy of Fairview Heights, IL A Son - Denny Simmons, and his wife Rose, of East Alton, IL 8 Grandchildren - Kristi Raben, Kara Rash, Lee Ann Schoeffel, Holly Talbott, Lori Ivey, Brian Murphy, Neil Simmons, & Jeff Simmons 15 Great Grandchildren - Jared, Andrew & Kelsi Raben Baylee King Christian Schoeffel Emma, Madelyn, & Walker Ivey Maya & Tess Murphy Blaine & Brooklyn Simmons Garrett Mott Cade Davis Trent Rash a Sister - Bonnie Cook of Vienna, IL Several Nieces & Nephews Naomi was also anticipating the birth of a great grandson in October 2009. In addition to her Parents, Naomi was preceded in death by: a Grandson - Scott Eric Choate 2 Sisters - Gussie Schierbaum and Golda Taylor 2 Brothers - Raleigh McHugh and Wayne McHugh Naomi was a 1938 graduate of the Vienna High School. She had worked as a sewing machine operator at the Good Luck Glove Co. in Vienna. She also worked for Powell Produce and Heaton Produce. Naomi was a member of the Community of Christ (Webb) Church near Tunnel Hill, IL. She enjoyed sewing and making crocheted hand crafted items. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2009, at 11 AM at the Community of Christ Church. High Priest Glenn Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark, IL. Friends may call from 5 PM - 8 PM Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church.
