Nancy Louise Quinn

Nancy Louise (Knapp) Quinn, 84 of Goreville IL, formerly of DuQuoin IL, passed away July 21, 2024 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Nancy was born September 6th 1939 at the family home in Tamaroa, IL. She was the daughter of Eugenia (Tkaczyk) Knapp & Lawerence Knapp. She was united in marriage to Salathiel Quinn on May 16th, 1959 in DuQuoin IL. He survives. Nancy is also survived by her daughter Joyce Ann Maze of Goreville. Even until her last days, Joyce was, in her mom's words "The best daughter we could have prayed for.” She had three grandchildren, Alletha Aden of Lick Creek IL, Chad Maze of Washington DC (Andrews AFB) and Laenya Nelson of Elgin SC (Shaw AFB). Great Grandchildren include Levi Kole Alvis, Avery Marie Aden, Kiara Anelle Aden, McKenna Naomi Nelson and Atlas Ryan Nelson who was born just five days before her passing. Surviving brothers & sisters include James Knapp of Dowell, Loretta Adcock and Nelson Knapp of Tamaroa, Jerry Knapp and Mary Jo Ryman of DuQuoin and Suzy Kuberski of Dubois, Also surviving are a host of nephews, nieces, wonderful friends and a loving church family. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Nancy was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Leonard and three sisters, Cathy Ratajczyk, Phyllis Ferguson, and Betty Roberts. Nancy was employed at Montgomery Ward in DuQuoin before a 19 year tenure in the dietary department at Marshall Browning Hospital, where she retired in 2000. Nancy attended the DuQuoin United Pentecostal Church for over 59 years. Her recent move to Goreville, led her to Lick Creek UPC where she attended until her health would not allow. Nancy was an avid Sudoku player, newspaper/Facebook reader, Hershey's chocolate lover and she enjoyed westerns. She was known for staying up late to watch the news and westerns, many times going to bed in the wee hours of the morning. She fastidiously tended to her many beautiful flowers and trees. Since her move to Goreville, she and Salathiel loved watching the wildlife in their yard. It was not unusual for them to see at least six or more deer every evening in the back yard, mostly because she was feeding them corn. Nancy loved her grandkids and never missed a chance to spoil them as well. She loved to talk, and never met a stranger. A funeral service honoring the life of Nancy Quinn will be conducted Sunday morning, July 28, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the DuQuoin United Pentecostal Church, 1311 South Washington Street, DuQuoin, Illinois. Pastor Dan McKinnies and Pastor Ken Perry will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday morning from 9 A.M. until the service hour at 11 A.M. at the DuQuoin United Pentecostal Church. A graveside service will be conducted Monday morning, July 29, 2024, at 11 A.M. at Busby Chapel Cemetery, 7715 IL State Route 37 North, Goreville, Illinois There will be a time of visitation from 10:30 A.M. until 11 A.M.
