Nancy A. Davis

Nancy Davis, age 73 years, a resident of Vienna and a former resident of Metropolis, passed away Wednesday morning, June 4, 2014, at 5:05 AM at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna. Nancy was born August 26, 1940 in Union County Illinois. She was the daughter of Cecil Milo Erwin and Mabel Ruth (Gaddis) Erwin. On January 2, 1960, Nancy was united in marriage to William Lee “Bill” Davis at her parent’s home in Anna, Illinois. Bill preceded her in death on July 12, 1977. Survivors include: her children – William Bradford “Brad” (Pam) Davis of Vienna, Jeffery Lee (Patty) Davis of Old Hickory, Tennessee, and Debra Kay Beggs of Louisville, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren – Michael Faris, Stephanie (Mike) Gentry, Sarah Holley, Andria (Zackary) Nichols, Garrett (his fiancé Hannah) Davis, Caity Davis, and Haylee Beggs; 6 great grandchildren; 4 sisters-in-law – Virginia Erwin, Velma “Uppy” Erwin, Rose Marie Erwin, and Pam Erwin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by 11 brothers & sisters – Cecil Milo “Bud” Erwin, Jr, Louise Pierson, Fredia King, Paul Dean “Buddy” Erwin, Arthur Eugene Erwin, Bruce Erwin, Harry Erwin, Loren “Cotton” Erwin, Helen Ruth McHughes, Danny Erwin, and Jack Erwin. She was also preceded in death by her infant twin sister. Nancy had been employed by the TIP of Illinois Health Services. She had also worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, prior to her retirement. Nancy was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Metropolis. She enjoyed music and would often sing a special musical selection at church. Nancy also enjoyed spending time reading. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday afternoon, June 7, 2014, at 3:30 PM at the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 3:15 PM. There will be no public visitation. The preferred form of remembrance is donations to the charity or church of the donor's choice.
