Michael L. Taylor

Michael L. Taylor, age 67 years, a resident of the Lake of Egypt and a former resident of Vienna, passed away Monday morning, July 22, 2019, at 8:13 AM at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael was born November 15, 1951 in Carbondale, Illinois. He was the only child born to Lewis and Catherine (Deaton) Taylor. On April 24, 1993, Michael was united in marriage to Dianna L. Stanke at Stonefort, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: their children – John Walter (Mary Jaye) Faulkner of Marion, James Dean (Heather) Faulkner of Simpson, Jill Lynette (Giles) Haycock of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Elizabeth Michelle Taylor of Eldorado and William Ryan Taylor of Galatia; 7 grandchildren – Audra, Adrienne, Aidan, Tristan, Harvey, Jasmine, and Will; a sister-in-law – Donna Stanke; a niece – Maryann (Zach) Zeigler and their son Mason; 2 nephews – Dana (Jessica) Hutman and their sons Chad, Dusty, and J.J. as well as Dale (Sarah) Hutman and their daughter – Hailee. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by a grandson – Abrham Michael Kuhn. Michael attended Vienna High School for three years and was a graduate of Harrisburg High School. He had been employed as an above-ground coal miner and construction laborer. Michael was instrumental in the development and coordination of the Johnson County Ambulance Service. Michael was a member and past commander of the Knights of Pythias. He was also an associate member of the Creal Springs VFW Post, where his father was a member. Michael and Dianna were members of the Harrisburg American Legion Post as well as the Sunny Day Saints Motorcycle Association. Michael was a member of Taylor United Methodist Church near Vienna. Michael enjoyed a number of hobbies and past times. He was an avid fisherman and horseback rider. He had a love of motorcycling and enjoyed spending time on the beach in Florida. On April 24, 1992, Michael was blessed with a second chance at life when he was the recipient of a heart transplant. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. At 7 PM, all are invited to participate in a time of sharing remembrances and stories about Michael. At the conclusion of this time of sharing, Rev. David Faulkner will conclude the gathering with prayer. Scattering of cremated remains will be at a later date at Flagler Beach Florida.
