Mary "Marie" Ingram

Mary “Marie” Ingram, age 86 years, a resident of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, November 10, 2022, at 9:15 PM at her home. At the time of her passing, Marie was with her beloved husband of 67 years. Marie was born August 19, 1936 in Neoga (Cumberland County) Illinois, she was the daughter of Leslie James Cooper and Elizabeth Faye (Curry) Cooper. Marie was the eldest of seven girls. No matter the distance between them they managed to keep in touch regularly and visit often. On April 19, 1955, Marie was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Ingram at the First Christian Church in Toledo, Illinois. In addition to her beloved husband, Marie is survived by: her children – Leslie C. Ingram of Golconda and Renee’ M. Williams (Dean Furlong) of Harrisburg; 3 grandchildren – Jade Williford (Beth Goff), Craig (Maura) Williams and Morgan (Brian) Dalton; 9 great grandchildren – Caleb, Cole, and Cooper Williford, Kyndall & Ridge Williams, Ryan, Levi, Gabe, and Braydee Dalton; 3 sisters – Joan (Bernard) Oakley of Charleston, Linda Pickens of Plainfield, Indiana, and Ila Mae Ray (Barry Russell) of Mattoon; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by 3 sisters – Evelyn Pugh, Carolyn Miller, and Charlene Roy. Marie was a graduate of Neoga (Illinois) High School. She served for many years as the deputy county clerk and recorder in Cumberland County Illinois. She was a faithful homemaker and her most beloved occupation was taking care of all her family; she excelled at this. Marie was a 50 year member of the Toledo Chapter # 231 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening and babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Harrisburg First Christian Church. A celebration of the life of Marie Ingram will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2022, at 2 PM at the First Christian Church, 20 South Webster Street, Harrisburg, Illinois. Biff Moore will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 PM – 2 PM Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, Illinois 62959 or to the First Christian Church, 20 South Webster Street, Harrisburg, Illinois 62946.
