Lois was born December 22, 1952 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Elmer “Pee Wee” and Virginia (Duncan) Hacker. Lois was united in marriage to Dale Ludwig on December 24, 1995. He survives. In addition to her husband, Lois is survived by: her brothers – Donald Duncan Hacker of rural Vienna and Gary Dean (his wife, Janet) Hacker of Lake of Egypt (Tunnel Hill), IL; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and was especially close to - Gregory Douglas (Kelli) Hacker of Troy, Missouri, David Lee (Taylor) Hacker of Vienna, and Mary Jane Hacker (Benito) Joseph of Brooklyn, New York. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her eldest brother, Douglas Lee Hacker, Lois attended Vienna Grade School and was a 1971 graduate of Vienna High School. She graduated from Shawnee Community College in 1973 and from Southern Illinois University in 1975 with a degree in Elementary Education. Lois was employed for over 25 years as an elementary teacher at the Cypress (Illinois) Grade School. After retiring from public school teaching, she was employed for many years as a teacher at Immanuel Pre-School in Paducah, Kentucky. Lois loved her years in teaching and working with young children. She gained a great deal of satisfaction in being with her young students. At home, she enjoyed working in her yard, doing interior decorating and antiquing. She enjoyed working for many years at the 9th Street House Restaurant in Paducah. But, most of all, she enjoyed living with her husband, Dale, at Moors Resort, on Kentucky Lake, near Gilbertsville, Kentucky. Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah, Kentucky performed cremation services. A Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday afternoon, August 27, 2023, at 2 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. There will be a time for sharing of favorite memories and stories of Lois during the service. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:30 P.M. – 2 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5 Schiber Port, Suite C., Maryville, IL 62062 or to Mercy Health-Hospice, 225 Medical Center Drive, Suite 203, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.
