Langley West

Langley West, age 97 years, a resident of Grand Chain, Illinois and a former resident of rural Vienna, passed away Friday morning, June 26, 2026, at 1:20 A.M. at the Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Langley was born November 5, 1928 in the Hells Neck community (rural Cypress, Illinois). He was the son of Joshua West and Daisy (Fisher) West. On June 15, 1948, Langley was united in marriage to Donna Sichling. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2011. On March 20, 2013, He was united in marriage to Wanda (Brunschon) Lanfear at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, southwest of Vienna. She survives. In addition to his wife, Langley is survived by: his children – Mike (Sharon) West of Milan, Missouri, LaDonna (Russell) McDowell of Dongola, Illinois and Langley Joseph West of Fernwood, Washington; 3 stepdaughters – Phyllis Loos, Colleen Bogart, and Renee DeGrush, along with their families. Langley is also survived by: 9 grandchildren – Shad West, Heather Graves, Shanna Graves, Shiloh Graves, Jessie Graves, Trampas Smith, Jake Smith, Benjamin Smith, Langley West; several great grandchildren; 3 sisters – Luella Thomason, Jane Winterbottom and Patsy Stetter; his beloved Yorkie – Cricket; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Langley was preceded in death by: his first wife, Donna (Sichling) West; a daughter – Sandy Smith; 2 grandsons – Josh Graves and Zane Smith; brothers – Bruce, Gene and Jack West; and sisters – Sue Denton, Gail Rigby and Joann West. Langley spent his career as a skilled electrician in the construction trade and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 19 in Aurora, Illinois, for over 60 years. In his free time, he found enjoyment in woodworking and creating handcrafted items. He was an avid dog lover with a special passion for French Bulldogs, which he took pride in raising and selling. Langley was of the Baptist faith. A graveside service honoring the life of Langley West will be conducted Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 2 P.M. at Friendship Cemetery near Dongola. Those attending are invited to gather at the cemetery at 1:45 P.M. There will be no public visitation.
