Jeanie Ledbetter

Brenda J. “Jeanie” Ledbetter, age 66 years, a resident of rural Golconda and a former resident of Cypress, Illinois, passed away Wednesday evening, March 25, 2026, at 10:06 P.M. at her home. Jeanie was born September 15, 1959 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Illinois. She was the second of three children born to Thomas and Brenda Joyce (Darnell) Monroe. On March 19, 2005, Jeanie was united in marriage to Donnie Ledbetter at the Bethany Baptist Church, near Cypress. He survives. In addition to her husband, Jeanie is survived by: her children – Johnathon Monroe of Golconda, Illinois, Katrina (Cody) Gill of Rosiclare, Illinois and Regina (Joseph) Lingle of Cypress, Illinois; 9 grandchildren – Sean Thomas Monroe, MaKalub Price, Nikkie Price, Trentn Price, Zoe Lyle, Lily Gill, Lila Gill, Skyler Lingle, and Domanik Lingle; 4 great grandchildren – Kendalyn, Kaysten, Grayson, and Everleigh; a brother – James Monroe of Eddyville, Illinois; a sister – Rita (Junior) Clutts of Golconda, Illinois; a lifelong best friend, whom Jeanie loved like a sister, Debbie Gunther; a dear niece and caregiver, April Vaughn, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents. Jeanie was trained and certified as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and had formerly worked at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. She later received training as a journeyman master carpenter. She worked on a number of local construction projects, including the construction of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge at Cape Girardeau, Missouri as well as the Olmsted Lock and Dam project. She was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America. Prior to her retirement from her working career, Jeanie was employed as an in-home healthcare provider. Jeanie enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. She particularly enjoyed walking, collecting feathers and shells. Jeanie was an avid reader. She cherished time spent with her family and was devoted to them and loved them all dearly. Jeanie was a founding member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Cypress. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of Jeanie’s life will be conducted at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church and made left in the care of Bailey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 695, Vienna, Illinois 62995.
