James F. Spencer

James F. Spencer, (Jim), age 91 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1935 in Tunnel Hill, IL the son of John and Alta (Richardson) Spencer. James was united in marriage on February 16, 1957 to Hazel Skelton and they spent the next 69 years happily together. Mr. Spencer was employed, until his retirement, by Caterpillar Inc. He was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Yorkville, IL. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. James is survived by his wife, Hazel Spencer of Yorkville, IL; his daughters, Debra (Greg) McCartney of Yorkville, IL and Lisa (Patrick) Hennessy of West Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Rachel Kerby, Drew (Nicci) Carrington, Scott (Jhey) McCartney, Jordan (Kylie) McCartney, Brook (Jon) Ray, and Paige Hennessy; his great-grandchildren, Easton Kerby, Oakley Kerby, Navie Kerby, Brielle Carrington, Hadley Carrington, and Mallory Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alta Spencer; his mother and father-in-law, Nellie and Horace Skelton; as well as his sister, Josephine Spencer. Jim loved spending time training and working with his Beagle dogs that he would take to dog trails throughout the Midwest where they won many 1st place trophies. Jim loved going back to Southern Illinois to spend time with family and friends on their family farm. He enjoyed sitting in the yard having friendly conversations and going out to dinners with their close friend across the road. After retirement Jim enjoyed spending time at the Local McDonalds with his friends and co-workers. Jim really enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their sports and activities. The Family would thank our Special Care Givers that took care of Jim with Loving Care and Attention. Krista Daggett, Likita Spence, Laisa Gosling, Gardenia Daldec, Karla Reinboldt and Ingrid Rames. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will take place in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery, in Vienna, IL. Friends may visit from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL. A second Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM followed by a 10:00 AM Service on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Bailey Funeral Home, 705 North 1st Street, Vienna, IL. Interment will follow in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery in Vienna, IL. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
