Hayward L Street

Hayward L. Street Age: 86 years A resident of rural Simpson, Illinois Passed away Thursday evening, November 17, 2011, at 9:07 PM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Hayward was born April 8, 1925 at Ozark, Illinois. He was the son of Ado and Ruby (Fort) Street. Hayward was united in marriage to Mary Audrey (McKillip) on August 4, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI. She preceded him in death in December 1972. He was later united in marriage to Virginia Lou (Stimson) in 1974 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She survives. Other survivors include: A Son – William Joseph Street of Lake Mills, WI 2 Daughters - Rosemary Kathleen Ehlert of Joplin, MO Kathryn Ann and Bobby Wiley of Metropolis, IL 6 Grandchildren- Molly Street, Maxwell Street, Olivia Street, Ryan & Jessica Ehlert, Michelle Ehlert, and Crystal & Eric Rehse A Great Grandson – Nicholas Ehlert A Brother – Loren & Barbara Street of Joppa, IL Nieces and Nephews Hayward was also anticipating the birth of a great grandchild in May 2012. In addition to his parents and first wife, Hayward was preceded in death by: An Infant Daughter – Peggy Street 3 Brothers – Lenard, Clarence, & Lewie Street 2 Infant Brothers An Infant Sister Hayward was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving from 1943-1945. He participated honorably in the Pacific Theater of Operation. Hayward was a former member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 of Vienna, Illinois. Hayward earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Business from Murray State University. He graduated in 1954. Hayward taught and coached for a year in Wisconsin. He then was employed by the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin government, where he served simultaneously as the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation and the Assistant Director of the Milwaukee County Stadium. Later, Hayward served exclusively as the Assistant Director of the Milwaukee County Stadium. Hayward was a parishioner of St. Robert Catholic Church in Shorewood, WI. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and gardening. In his retirement, Hayward and Virginia spent a number of years traveling and camping. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, November 21, 2011, at 11 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Tom Barrett will officiate. Private interment will be in the Gilead Cemetery near Simpson, IL. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, 2011, from 4 PM – 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A prayer service will be conducted at the conclusion of the visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 2524 Farragut Dr., Suite A, Springfield, IL 62704.
