Frances M. Rohrer

Frances Marie Bullock Rohrer, age 89 year, a resident of Metropolis and a former resident of Vienna, passed away Saturday evening, March 21, 2020, at 8:50 PM at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis. She was born January 18, 1931 in Pope County Illinois. She was the daughter of Riley and Elizabeth Mae (Young) Kerley. She was united in marriage to Eldon Leon Stockton and later to Carlos Rohrer (both are deceased). She loved raising chickens and vegetable gardening to provide wholesome foods for her family. Additionally, she was a skilled crafter focusing on dollmaking, crocheting rose bedspreads and pillows, and was a master African violet flower gardener. She was proud member of the Eastern Star and when time permitted she enjoyed reading a good “love story”. Her greatest achievement was raising her children to love God. Her children - deceased daughter Madonna Sue Walker Odum of Dallas, TX at time of death; Riley Marshall Stockton (Kay deceased) Patricia of Anna, Il; Zetta Mae Davidson (James deceased) of Marion, Il; Leona Marie Rader (James F.) of Fairborn, OH; deceased daughter Cathy Ann Copley (Timothy deceased) of Metropolis, Il; Deceased daughter Opal Diane Clark (Dane) Marion, Il. Her grandchildren: Deceased Grandson James Ryan Rader and Rebecca Rader Keith; Jimmie Walker and Catherine Walker (Randy deceased) Kerley Sullivan; Misty Stockton Umeh and Rebecca Stockton Anderson; James (Jay) Davidson, Deanna Christine Ezell and Jamie Nichole Smith; Joel, Andrew and Jeremy Copley; David Clark, Deidra Clark, and Alyssa Clark Bush. Her great-grandchildren: Deceased Great-Grandson Sheldon Blake Kerley, Deceased Great-Granddaughter Anna Marie Rader, Peyton M. Rader, Derek Kerley, Lauran Kerley Greer; Ian, Easton, and Arianna Sullivan; Deceased Great-Grandson Jacob Clark, Emma and Ava Clark, Makayla, Lillie, Samuel, and Alivia Bush; Angelica Villareal and Ezekiel Umeh, Victoria and Allen Anderson; Rachel Byrd Busch, Amber Byrd Gurley and Mary Beth Byrd Beecher; Larita, Casey and Ellen Elmore; Mark and Zera Curtis; Alex, Cobie, Dylan, Cassidy and Caleb Copley. Her great-great grandchildren: Cara Walker; Emelie Greer; Liberty, Josie, and Luke Gurley; Donovan and Aleeyah Busch; Daxtyn Kerley; Jamison Beecher; Josephine Copley. Her siblings: Deceased brother James A. Kerley, Jr., 73 at time of death (Leda Jane) of Simpson, IL. Deceased sister Cathy Walker, 71 at time of death (Virgil deceased) of Paducah, KY. Deceased infant son Curtis Earl Walker, 2 years old at time of death; Sister Mary Stone (George) of Grantsburg, IL; Sister Dorothy Jones (Jack deceased) of Metropolis, IL; Robert Kerley (Patty) of Scappose, OR; Carlos Kerley Ellie deceased) of Vienna, IL; Jeannie McCall (Bob) of Buncombe, IL; Kenneth Kerley (Cheryl) of Simpson, IL; and Anita Ditterline (Roger) of Simpson, IL. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. A private graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date in the Kerley Cemetery in the Flatwoods community. Memorials may be made to the Kerley Cemetery Fund, c/o Donnie Morris, 146 Bull Pen Road, Simpson, Illinois 62985. The family extends special thanks and praise to Residential Hospice and Southgate Nursing Home Staff that provided her with tender loving care. Lastly, we’d like to thank those who made it a priority to visit Mom during her last years of life.
