Edward C. Krueger Jr.

Edward C. Krueger, Jr., a resident of rural Grantsburg for the past nine years and a former resident of Philo, Illinois, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 27, 2025, at 3:45 P.M. at his home. Eddie, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was born February 13, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Edward C. Krueger, Sr. and Jolene E. (Cuthbertson) Krueger. On August 25, 1970, Eddie was united in marriage to Terrie P. Kramer in Chicago, Illinois. Together, Eddie and Terrie shared almost 55 years of marriage. In addition to his beloved wife, Eddie is survived by: a daughter – Lisa (Michael) Kenna; a sister – Shirley (Jim) Stein; 2 brothers-in-law – Rene’ Algiene and Bill Downey; 2 sisters-in-law – Marianne (Frank) Howley and Mary Ann Krueger; and 2 uncles – Chuck (Cis) Cuthbertson and Bobby (Linda) Cuthbertson; nieces – Deb (Patrick) Nally, Sher (Tracy) Cuthbertson, Serina Stein and Amanda (Joe) Shaughnessy; and nephews – Michael Cuthbertson, Thomas (Annie) Cuthbertson, James (Kathy) Stein, Jason (Kristen) Downey, Dan (Janet) Howley, and Tony Howley. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by: son – Edward Charles Krueger III; father – Edward C. Krueger, Sr.; mother – Jolene Krueger (nee Cuthbertson); a brother – Thomas Krueger; and 2 sisters – Jolene Downey and Mary Francis Algiene. Eddie was a 1967 graduate of Gage Park High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the rank of lance corporal. Eddie was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was affiliated with VFW Post 3940 Victory in Chicago. Eddie attended Daley College in Chicago and earned a bachelor's degree in animal sciences from the University of Illinois at Champaign. Following his graduation, Eddie was employed for 18+ years at the University of Illinois. Later, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Sygma Trucking, Inc., until to his retirement. Eddie was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Eddie was also an automotive restoration enthusiast. He single-handedly constructed his dream log cabin home near Grantsburg. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 P.M. – 6 P.M. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Military honors and flag presentation will be held at 5 P.M. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the funeral home. There will also be a celebration of Eddie’s life on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 2 P.M. – 6 P.M. at Barraco’s, 2105 West 95th St., Chicago, Illinois.
