Doyle Annable

Doyle Annable, son of Alvin Lindsay Annable & Lillie Edith (Steele) Annable, was born December 18, 1924 in Cypress, IL. He departed this life Friday evening, January 21, 2005, at 8:20 PM at his home near Cypress, IL. At the time of his passing, Doyle had attained the age of 80 years 1 month & 3 days. Doyle was united in marriage to Mary Ellen (Belford) on April 29, 1944 in Karnak, IL. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1995. Doyle was later united in marriage to Carol Joyce (nee Hacken) Pennington on March 4, 1997 in Metropolis, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: His Children ƒ?" Brenda & James Anderson, Ed & Diane Annable, and Royce & Jim McClellan all of Cypress, IL and Paul & Diana Annable of Washington, MO; Stepchildren ƒ?" Steven & Pat Pennington of McClure, IL, Dennis & Patsy Pennington of Thebes, IL, Theresa & James Longobardi of Houston, TX, Jeffery & Betty Pennington of McClure, and Cynthia & Mark Foeste of McClure, IL; 6 Granddaughters; 2 Grandsons; 15 Step Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; 10 Step Great Grandchildren; 4 Sisters ƒ?" Ruth Brown of Belleville, MI, Etta Mae & James Martin of Walkerton, IN, Thelma & George Penrod of Cypress, IL, and Kathryn & Donald Riley of Karnak, IL; a Brother ƒ?" Ray & Beverly Annable of Cypress, IL; and a host of Nieces & Nephews. In addition to his Parents & first Wife, Doyle was preceded in death by a Sister ƒ?" Edith Lewis and 7 Step Grandchildren. Doyle was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a Purple Heart & Bronze Star recipient and a former Prisoner of War. Doyle was a retired postal employee. He had served as a letter carrier for the Cypress, IL post office. Doyle served for several years as the coordinator for the Johnson County E.S.D.A. He was also a TIP of Southern Illinois Hospice volunteer and an American Red Cross volunteer. Doyle was a member of the West Eden Methodist Church, where he had taught a menƒ?Ts Sunday School class and had been a Methodist Youth volunteer. Doyle loved the outdoors. He enjoyed raising fish, gardening, bird watching and raising cattle. He was also a skilled craftsman and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, January 25, 2005, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Steve Heisner will officiate. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Cypress. A military flag presentation ceremony will be conducted. Friends may call from 5 PM ƒ?" 8 PM Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
