Mr. C.M. Daniels Age: 83 years A resident of Paducah, Kentucky and a former resident of Vienna, IL. Passed away Friday evening, October 22, 2010, at 6:32 PM at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Marion was born October 23, 1926 in Johnson County Illinois. He was the son of James Thomas Daniels and Roena Pearl (Turley) Daniels. Marion was united in marriage to Betty A. Sanders on December 22, 1946 in Vienna, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 26, 1995. Survivors include: His Children - Pat Duncan of Paducah, KY J.D. Holder, and her husband Dennis, of Shawnee, OK Tony Daniels & Cindy Blankenship of Symsonia, KY 8 Grandchildren - Alicia & Donnie Ray, Andy & Leigh Ann Duncan, Ryan & Carrie Tuttle, Shawn & Amanda Holder, Shan Holder, Amanda Crawford, Amber Crawford, & Zach Daniels 12 Great Grandchildren - Ashley Ray, Kaitlyn Ray, David Ray, Jake Duncan, Danni Duncan, Haley Holder, Gage Holder, Isaiah Knoth, Noah Knoth, Staci Tuttle, Emily Tuttle, & Ethan Tuttle 1 Great Great Granddaughter - Emma Grace Ray In addition to his Parents and Wife, Marion was preceded in death by: a Brother - James Thomas Daniels, Jr. 2 Sisters - Mary Houseright and Marjorie Willis Marion was a 1944 graduate of Vienna High School. He attended Southern Illinois University as well as Murray State University. During his youth, Marion worked at a variety of jobs, including driving a truck and farm labor. Marion was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater of operation. Marion was employed from March 4, 1952 until his retirement on January 31, 1989 by Martin Marietta (formerly Union Carbide), where he was employed as Assistant Shift Superintendent. Marion earned the nickname "The War Lord" because of his tough but fair management style. Marion was a devoted member of the Lone Oak First Baptist Church, where he had formerly served as a trustee. Marion also was involved in many ministries and activities of the church including mission projects to refurbish and restore homes in need of repair. His love of community service and willingness to always lend a helping hand to others led him to volunteer his time and skills with Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, Marion served for over 10 years as an auxiliary volunteer at Western Baptist Hospital until January 2010. Marion was multi-talented and enjoyed a wide variety of interests and activities. He especially enjoyed working around his home and yard and he absolutely loved to mow. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, October 25, 2010, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Dan Summerlin and Pastor Mike Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 PM - 8 PM Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
