Mr. Charles F. Lanfear

Charles F. Lanfear Age 90 Years A resident of rural Vienna, Illinois and a former resident of Minooka, Illinois. Passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at 12:05 PM at his home near Vienna. Charles was born March 3, 1922 in Lockport, Illinois. He was the son of Albert Charles Lanfear and Gertrude Josephine (Czichon) Lanfear. Charles was united in marriage to Wanda M. (Brunschon) on September 10, 1971 in Joliet, Illinois. She survives. Charles was the proud father and grandfather of: The late Charles W. “Chuck” Lanfear & Alma Lanfear of the Lake of Egypt, IL and children – Suzi (Lanfear) Barker, Charley Lanfear, Jodi (Lanfear) Duhon, Neil Bundren, & Mona (Bundren) Schwartz Mary Scarborough of Vienna, IL and children – Kim (Scarborough) Johnson, Jennifer (Scarborough) Coxwell, & Leslie Scarborough Phyllis Loos, and her husband Dennis, of Lake Stevens, WA and children – Derek Loos & Garrison Loos Colleen Bogart, and her husband Brian, of Minooka, IL and children – Adam Bogart & Matthew Bogart Renee DeGrush, and her husband Corey, of Morris, IL and children – Zachary DeGrush & Cody DeGrush Tom Lanfear, and his wife Julie, of Crest Hill, IL and children – Mandi Lanfear, Christina Lanfear, & Brian Lanfear 26 Great Grandchildren 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and was anticipating the birth of a Great-Great Grandchild in February 2013. A Brother-in-Law – Bob Koch of Joliet, IL Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his Parents and Son, Charles was preceded in death by: A Granddaughter – Anastasia Sichling 2 Brothers – William “Bill” Lanfear and Robert “Bob” Lanfear 2 Sisters – Gertrude Pasternak and Rosemary Koch Charles was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-1945 in the European theater of operation. He was discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant. Charles was a life member of the American Legion Post in Minooka, IL and the New Lenox, IL. V.F.W. Post. Charles enjoyed attending annual reunions with his Army buddies and reminiscing with them of their shared war time experiences. Charles had worked as a supervisor in a number of manufacturing plants in the Joliet, IL area. He owned and operated Lanfear Heating and Cooling in Minooka, IL from 1971 – 1998. Charles was a skilled “jack of all trades.” He excelled in the field of heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing & mechanical work, installation and service. Charles was a parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna where he had also served on the Building Committee. Formerly, Charles was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minooka and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Channahon, IL, where he had also served on the building committee. Charles was an active and vibrant person. He had a zest and love for life. Charles enjoyed woodworking, dancing, roller skating and many types of watersports, including boating and water skiing. He is fondly remembered for his annual indoor Christmas displays which consisted of a 3 tiered arrangement with over 130 buildings and 3 train sets. Charles was a devoted family many and loved spending time with his family & friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, July 12, 2012, at 10 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Tom Barrett will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 PM – 8 PM Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A military flag presentation service will be conducted at 8 PM A Graveside Service will be held Saturday morning at 11 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, Illinois. Military graveside rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held Friday evening, July 13, 2012, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in Joliet, IL.
