Calvin was born September 21, 1935 in DeSoto, Illinois. He was the son of Alvin Calvin and Belle (Gurley) Pearce. He married Jane Isabel (Hodgdon) Larson on May 24, 1975 in Tinley Park, Illinois. Together they have shared over 50 years of marriage. Calvin began his working career on a construction crew at the Joppa Power Plant, where his father was his supervisor. He was a grain farmer and worked as a butcher in the Dietary Department of the Manteno State Hospital where he later became a supervisor. For over 30 years he worked in the stamping plant of Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights, Illinois retiring at the age of 51 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gathering with friends to play a number of card games, including poker and pinochle, as well as playing dominoes. Calvin is survived by his: wife – Jane Pearce of Goreville, children – Rhonda Podlesak of Mesa, Arizona, Tammy Pearce of Burbank, Illinois, Scott Pearce (Jill) of Crown Point, Indiana, Richard Larson (Vanessa) of Louisville, Kentucky, Trina Samson (Henry) of Richton Park, Illinois; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his brother Jerry Pearce (Lynn) of Manteno, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. Calvin was preceded in death by his Parents; his sisters – Tressie Colombo, Geneva King, Wanda Bradley and Violet Billingsley; and brothers – Eugene Pearce, Robert Pearce and Larry Pearce. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, October 7, 2025, at 1 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Glenn Webb will officiate. Private interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Buncombe. Visitation will be conducted Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 11 A.M. until the service hour at 1 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mt.
