Ava Marie Goddard Cover Age: 83 A resident of Vienna, IL and a former resident of Tunnel Hill, Illinois. Passed away Friday morning, May 7, 2010, at 12:53 AM at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna. Marie was born September 28, 1926 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois. She was the daughter of Earl Simmons and Mary "Dodie" (Johnson) Simmons. Marie was united in marriage to Everett Samuel Goddard on July 17, 1945 in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1954. She was later united in marriage to Leon "Ponce" Cover on December 5, 1973 on Vienna, IL. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1990. Marie is survived by: Her Sons - James & Lora Goddard of Tunnel Hill, IL Earl "Kenny" & Sue Goddard of Vienna, IL Jerry & Debra Goddard of Vienna, IL 2 Stepsons - David E. "Dee" Cover of Tunnel Hill, IL Bruce Cover of St. Louis, MO a Stepdaughter - Kharyn L. Cover of Albuquerque, NM 9 Grandchildren - Tracy & Brent Williams Sam & Sara Goddard Cathy McInturff & Josh DeJarnett Billy & Charlotte Goddard Brian Craig & Diane Ball Ashley Goddard Rebecca Goddard Rachelle & Justin Vaughn Dustin Goddard 12 Great Grandchildren: Kaleb & Emma Williams Alexis & Jessica Goddard D.J. McInturff & Kaden Mayberry Emily & Nicholas Goddard Kaylind & Dustin Ball Trey & Kaden Vaughn a Sister - Evelyn Funk of Vienna, IL 2 Brothers - Harvey Simmons of Pittsburg, IL Jack D. Simmons of Dunnellon, FL Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives & many dear friends. Marie was also anticipating the birth of a great granddaughter in July 2010. In addition to her parents & husbands, Marie was preceded in death by: a Brother - Arlin E. Simmons 2 Sisters - Alice Hurley and Ruby DeWitt Marie had worked as a cook at the Tunnel Hill Grade School and later at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, IL. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. Marie enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, attending yard sales, and spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 10, 2010, at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Edward "Shorty" Alsip will officiate. Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery near Tunnel Hill, IL. Friends may call after 5 PM Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
