Anna Lou Matheny

Anna Lou (Street) Matheny, age 80 years, a resident of Ozark, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, July 12, 2026, at 12:01 A.M. at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Anna Lou was born April 2, 1946 in Pope County Illinois. She was the daughter of Glen and June (Murphy) Street. Anna Lou is survived by: her sons – Larry (Kira) Matheny of Bridgeport, Illinois, Terry (Beth) Matheny of Carrier Mills, Illinois, Mike Matheny of Ozark, Illinois, and Chris (Tammy) Matheny of Ozark, Illinois; 13 grandchildren – Mason Douglas Matheny, Melissa Kay (Troy) McNeely, Carol Ann Davey, Clarissa (Levi) Drummond, Heather Elizabeth Court-Dearden, Timothy Paul (Jozee) Matheny, Laura Lee (Jordan Sparkman) Matheny, Devin Wayne (Tabatha Cook) Matheny, Brandon (Ashly) Dalton, Brian (Morgan) Dalton, Breanna (Kav) Kerley, Skeeter (Marie) Matheny, Tianna (Wesly Fritcher) Matheny; a host of great grandchildren; her siblings – Shirley Schapmire of Ozark, Illinois; Irene Jones of Golconda, Illinois, Roger Street of Harrisburg, Illinois, and Ray (Nancy) Street of Ozark, Illinois; as well as nieces and nephews. Anna Lou was also anticipating the birth of another great-grandson, due to be born in August. In addition to her parents, Anna Lou was preceded in death by: a brother – Carles “C.W.” Street and a great grandson – Kyson. Anna Lou was a graduate of the Pope County Community High School. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) training at Southeastern Illinois Community College near Harrisburg. Anna Lou was employed for many years as a C.N.A. at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, until her retirement. Anna Lou was an avid reader. She enjoyed reading romance novels and was a faithful student of the Bible. Anna Lou was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Ozark. A service honoring the life of Anna Lou Matheny will be conducted Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2026, at 1 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jeff Treat will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, east of Ozark, Illinois. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11 A.M. until the service hour at 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
