Alice Mae Mason

Alice Mae Mason, daughter of Jesse Link & Myrtle (Galamore) Link, was born September 3, 1923 in Ewing, IL. She departed this life Wednesday morning, March 17, 2004, at 1:30 AM at her home near Cypress, IL. At the time of her passing, Alice had attained the age of 80 years 6 months & 15 days. Alice was united in marriage to Dwight A. Mason on June 29, 1948 in Corinth, MS. He survives. Other survivors include: 3 Daughters – Donna & Max Ray of West Vienna, IL; Denise & Wade Thomas and Diane & Kenny Baker all of Cypress, IL; 8 Grandchildren – Shane & Shannon Jackson, Tiffanie Byrd, Rhiannon Jackson, Jamie Thomas, Josh Thomas, Desiree & Greg Poland, Kenneth Baker II, Tina & Keith Dunaway; 6 Great Grandchildren – Austin Jackson, Felisha Jackson, Allison Byrd, Dalton Byrd, MacKenzie Woodall, & Mason Poland; 2 Brothers – Gene & Nadine Link of West Frankfort, IL and Bob & Mary Jo Link of Chattanooga, TN; a Sister-in-Law – Betty Link of Vincennes, IN; Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, many friends & neighbors. In addition to her Parents, Alice was preceded in death by an Infant Daughter – Alice Kay Mason; 3 Brothers – Don Link, Jack Link, & Bill Link Alice was a 1941 graduate of the West Frankfort High School. She was a dedicated homemaker and excellent cook. Alice enjoyed knitting, crochet, & quilting. She had made afghans for many family members & friends. Alice was a member of the Luther’s Chapel Church. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the former Cypress Chapter # 886 Order of the Eastern Star. Alice was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, March 20, 2004, at 11 AM at the Luther’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Brother Jesse McPherson will officiate. Interment will be in the Luther’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 PM Friday and from 7 AM – 9 AM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The body will lie-in-state from 10 AM – 11 AM Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, 1110 N. Johnson, Marion, IL 62959; the Alzheimer’s Association, 620 East Walnut St., Carbondale, IL 62901; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
