Leo F. McCuan

January 10, 1924 - September 18, 2019

Leo F. McCuan, age 95 years, a resident of Eva, Tennessee and a native of Pope County Illinois, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 18, 2019, at 1:15 PM at the Camden Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Camden, Tennessee. Leo was born January 10, 1924 in Pope County Illinois. He was the second of three children born to Fred and Eutha (Bundren) McCuan. Leo was united in marriage to Lucille Mildred Stricker. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2009. Survivors include: his children – Donna (Richard) Pinkley of Normal, Ron (Linda) McCuan of Lincoln, Wayne McCuan of Eva, Tennessee, Patricia (James) Born of Camden, Tennessee, and Jim McCuan of Carlock; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister – Viola Anhalt of Eva, Tennessee; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Leo was preceded in death by: an infant great grandson and a sister – Geneva Evers. Leo was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran. He served as a mechanic during World War II and was honorably discharges with the rank of private. Leo was employed as a machinist by Caterpillar, Inc. He began his working career with Caterpillar at the Peoria facility and retired from the Mossville plant. During his working career, Leo was a member of the United Automobile Workers. Leo is fondly remembered as a true “shade tree mechanic.” He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him in Tennessee as well as Illinois. A service honoring the life of Leo McCuan will be held Monday morning, September 23, 2019, at 10:30 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Gary Simmons will officiate. Burial will follow in the Zion Cemetery east of Ozark. Visitation will be conducted Monday morning, September 23, 2019, from 9 AM – 10:30 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
