Donello Sue George

Donello Sue George, 72, a resident of Goreville and a former resident of Vienna and Cypress, passed away Thursday morning, December 10, 2020, at 12:30 AM at Saline Care in Harrisburg. Donello was born October 20, 1948 in Carbondale, Illinois. She was the daughter of Don E. and Othello Y. (Montgomery) George. Donello is survived by: her stepmother – Dorothy George of Brookport; a brother – Greg (Sabrina) George of Benton, Kentucky, a sister – Amanda (Paul) Henson of Grand Chain; a niece and nephew – Clarissa and Jared; great nieces and great nephews; cousins – Mason (Charlotte) Montgomery of Cypress and Anita (Richard) Meyer of Vienna; as well as her best friends and special sisters – Betty Nell Grant and Lois (Grant) Morris. Donello was preceded in death by her parents – Don George and Othello George Murray. Donello was a 1967 graduate of Vienna High School. She was employed as a secretary in the office of Norman Beisner, former warden of Vienna Correctional Center. Donello was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and had served as a volunteer for Hospice of Southern Illinois. Donello worshipped at the Pulley’s Mill Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed reading and had, since the age of 16, written letters to numerous pen-pals across the country. Donello had a deep love for cats. A graveside service honoring the life of Donello George will be held Monday afternoon, December 14, 2020, at 2 PM at Cypress Cemetery, 5847 Highway 37 South, Cypress, Illinois, Sister Martha Rodgers will officiate. Interment will follow. Visitation will be conducted from 1:30 PM – 2 PM Monday at Cypress Cemetery. Those attending the service are reminded that customarily accepted social distancing guidelines are to be observed. The wearing of a face mask or covering is strongly encouraged. Additionally, for those who wish, you are invited to bring a lawn chair.
