William L. "Woody" Goins

William L. “Woody” Goins Age: 74 years A resident of rural Vienna, Illinois. Passed away Thursday evening, May 2, 2013, at 5:17 PM at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Kentucky. Woody was born April 13, 1939 in Karnak, Illinois. He was the son of Eurnie Goins, Sr. and Dorothy (Durall) Goins. Woody was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Avery on July 14, 1959 at the Belknap United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1988. He was later united in marriage to Sondra (Cavitt) Orange on December 10, 1988. She survives. Other survivors include: 4 Children - Deborah (Rich) Elliott of Anna, IL Stacy Greer of Simpson, IL Jason (Lauren) Orange of Anna, IL Kim (Tim) Parr of Vienna, IL 9 Grandchildren - Wes Greer and Wyatt Greer both of Simpson, IL, Mike Orange of Johnston City, IL, Damon Archey of Anna, IL, Travis Woodworth and Brady Woodworth both of Vienna, IL, and Alex, Zach, & Emelia Orange all of Anna, IL. A Sister – Pat Crain of Cadiz, KY In addition to his parents and first wife, Elizabeth, Woody was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Ulrich and a brother, Eurnie Goins, Jr. Woody was a 1957 graduate of the Karnak High School. Woody and Elizabeth moved to the Chicago area on July 18, 1959 for employment. They chose to return to Southern Illinois, moving home on October 7, 1964, and Woody was employed as a mechanic at the rock quarries at White Hill and Buncombe, IL. He was employed as a painter at the Choate Mental Health Center in Anna and later at the Shawnee Correctional Center in Vienna. He retired on August 31, 2002. Woody was a true “jack-of-all-trades.” He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and other small engines in his garage. Woody was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had also spent time camping with his family. Woody repaired and traded guns. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Woody is fondly remembered by his family for his love of “Guns, Republican Politics, and Ford/Lincoln-Mercury Products.” Woody was a faithful member and deacon of the Bethlehem Gospel Mission Church. He enjoyed spending time with his church family. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Clark Madden will officiate. Burial will be in the Belknap Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 PM – 9 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
