William Rudert

William Joseph Martin ƒ?oBillƒ?? Rudert, age 58 years, a resident of Vienna, IL. Passed away Tuesday evening, March 21, 2006, at 11 PM at St. Anthonyƒ?Ts Hospital in St. Louis County, MO. Bill was born January 4, 1948 in Anna, IL. He was the son of Albert C. Rudert & Freida M. (Reichert) Rudert. Survivors include: a Brother ƒ?" Albert Rudert, and his wife Janice, of Addieville, IL; a Sister ƒ?" Joyce Andrews of Cincinnati, OH; A Nephew, Nieces, Cousins, other relatives & many friends He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was a U.S. Army Artillery veteran. He served during the Vietnam era. Bill was employed by the Beck Vocational Centers in St. Clair, Co. IL during the late 1970ƒ?Ts and early 1980ƒ?Ts in educational training and curriculum planning. Bill was a 1984 graduate of the S.I.U. School of Law. He practiced law in Waterloo, Lawrenceville, & Anna, IL. Bill has been in private law practice in Vienna since 1987. Bill served from January 1989 ƒ?" November 1992 as the Johnson County Assistant Stateƒ?Ts Attorney. Since, January 1, 1996, he has served as the Johnson County Public Defender, as well as the Attorney for the City of Vienna for the past 14 years. Bill was a devoted member of the St. Paulƒ?Ts Catholic Church, where he served as a cantor, was involved with the choir and assisted with music direction. Additionally, Bill generously donated of his time and resources to Camp Ondessonk, near Ozark, IL. Bill was an active member of the Vienna Civic Club and was instrumental in the creation of the Vienna City Park. Bill was involved in the Rails-to-Trails initiative and in local history and programs providing historic information to the community. Bill was an active Boy Scout volunteer for approx. 15 years. He was a Past Scout Master and was currently serving as a local committee member. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed golfing, bicycling, and had been an avid cave explorer and certified scuba diver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 12 Noon at St. Paulƒ?Ts Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Jose Ancheril will officiate. Interment, with military graveside rites, will be in the St. Josephƒ?Ts Cemetery at Cobden, IL. Friends may call from 6-9 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
