Bill was born March 2, 1938 in Simpson, Illinois. He was the son of Clifford and Golda (Murrie) Newton. Bill is survived by: his children – Priscilla June Hill, William E. (Tammy) Newton, and Robert (April Calvert) Newton all of Ozark and Steven A. (Jessica) Newton of Harrisburg; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and honorary great grandchildren; 2 brothers – James S. (Loretta) Newton of Fairview Heights and John Newton of Morganfield, Kentucky; a dear friend for over 60 years, Mary Louise Melcher Taylor Borunda; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by: a granddaughter – Emilia Grace Calvert; and a brother & sister-in-law – Clifford “Top” & Velma Newton. Bill was a 1954 graduate of Vienna High School. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Bill was employed at a lumber sawmill in the timber business. He also worked for over 30 years handling and sorting livestock at the I.P.L.A. (Goreville Livestock Auction). Bill was a member of the Pentecostal faith. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, working on the farm, and spending time visiting with family and friends. A service honoring the life of Bill Newton will be conducted Friday morning, January 20, 2023, at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Bill’s son, William Newton, will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, east of Ozark. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, January 19, 2023, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
