Wayne P. Stricker

Wayne F. Stricker, age 92 years, a resident of rural Karnak, Illinois (the Boaz community), passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 2021, at 4:35 AM at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis. Wayne was born December 26, 1928 in Fairfield, Illinois. He was the fifth of seven children born to William and Rachel (Ferguson) Stricker. On February 23, 1953, Wayne was united in marriage to Frances J. Bunch in Jonesboro, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2011. Wayne is survived by: his children – Carol Ann (Ronald) Kineman of the Reevesville community and Bobby (Sandra) Stricker of Karnak; 3 grandchildren – David (Megan) Stricker of Nashville, Tennessee, Brantley (Christy) Stricker of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Daniel Kineman of the Reevesville community; 2 great grandchildren – Sophie & Will; a brother-in-law – Gary (Tina) Bunch of Cypress; a sister-in-law – Kathryn Bunch of Metropolis; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Kim Stricker, of Jackson, Missouri. In addition to his parents and wife, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings – Flossie McGowan, Wilma Anderson, Lucille McCuan, Louella Stricker, William Stricker, and Albert Stricker. Wayne was an honorably discharged Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Wayne was a lifelong farmer. In his spare time, Wayne loved to play music in local bands and was an accomplished harmonica player and guitarist. He was also a remote controlled model airplane enthusiast. Wayne is remembered for his willingness to always lend a helping hand and for constantly staying busy. He cherished time spent with his family and many dear friends. Wayne was of the Christian faith. A funeral service honoring the life of Wayne Stricker will be conducted Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery in the Boaz community. Military graveside rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10 AM – 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105- 1905.
