Friday, July 31, 2026. https://together.oneroomstreaming.com/DAHCWM Toby Dalton, age 52 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026, at 6:40 A.M. at SIH Herrin Hospital, following a brief illness. Toby was born February 8, 1974 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was the daughter of Tom and Ruth (Gordon) Barkley. Toby is survived by: her father – Tom Barkley of Litchfield Park, Arizona; children – Brandon (Ashly) Dalton of Ozark, Illinois, Brian (Morgan) Dalton of Tunnel Hill, Illinois, Breanna (Kavern) Kerley of Ozark, Illinois, Brittany (John) Barkley of Sauk Village, Illinois, and Braeden (Amelia) Dalton of Simpson, Illinois; 18 grandchildren – Easton, Braxton, Oakley, Miley, Macie, Ryan, Levi, Gabe, Braydee, Elijah, Anthony, Sami (fiancé – Daniel Freeman),Sydnie, Reaslyn, Keaton, Ellie, Braelynn, and Waylon; a great grandson - Marcus; a brother – Robert (Mary) Barkley of Peyton, Colorado; her twin sister – Adrienne (John) Barkley Giffin of Marion, Illinois; a dear friend – Richard Warehime and his family; her “girls” – Shar, Becky, Tabby, Tracy and Jamie; as well as her Johnson County Sheriff’s Department family. Toby was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Barkley. Toby was a 1993 graduate of Marion (Illinois) High School. She has been employed since 2004 as a dispatcher for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. More recently, Toby served in the capacity of Lead Dispatcher. Toby has always worked in the field of E.M.S. and dispatch throughout her career. Toby was a member of the Southern Illinois Police Association (S.I.P.A.) and currently served as the chairperson of the Johnson County 911 Board. She enjoyed a number of hobbies and outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, and nature photography. Toby also enjoyed crafting and baking. She is fondly remembered for her bread baking skills. Toby was a longtime volunteer at the Southern Illinois Raceway, near Crab Orchard. She was of the Christian faith. Visitation will be conducted Friday evening, July 31, 2026, from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. At 7:45 P.M. there will be a walk-thru by local and regional E.M.S. personnel. At 8 P.M., there will be a final 10-42 issued by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. A celebration of Toby’s life will be conducted at a later date.
