Stella Mae Dunn Adams Age: 99 years A resident of West Frankfort, Illinois and a former resident of Chester, IL and Johnson County. Passed away Friday morning, August 23, 2013, at 11:27 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Stella Mae was born June 17, 1914 in Chaffee, Missouri. She was the daughter of Louis Albert Osman & Beatrice Ethel (Daywalt) Osman. Stella Mae was united in marriage to Almus G. Dunn on June 21, 1930 in Johnson County Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1987. She was later united in marriage to Gilbert Adams in 1991 in Herrin, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include: Her children - Al & Rosetta Dunn of West Frankfort, IL Vernetta & Donald Smith of West Frankfort, IL Yvonne Hall of Chester, IL Gayla Jones of Marion, IL & Larry Tite of Alton, IL 8 Grandchildren - Sherry & Rick Kennedy of Rockwood, IL Vicki & Brad Weber of Chester, IL Monica & Jason Garrett of Auburn, IL Dan Dunn of Steeleville, IL Darla Lilliock of Ruffs Dale, PA Jim & Judy Smith of Champaign, IL Cary & Michel Jones of North Charleston, SC Stephanie & Clint Harvel of Rockwood, IL 15 Great Grandchildren 14 Great-Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews Stella Mae was preceded in death by her Parents, Louis A. Osman and Beatrice E. Osman Penrod; her Husbands, Almus G. Dunn & Gilbert Adams; 2 Sons-in-Law – Harvey L. Hall and Cliff Jones; a Granddaughter-in-Law – Greta Dunn; and an infant Sister – Fernie Ethel Osman. Stella Mae was a graduate of the Mt. Pisgah Public School. She was employed as a psychiatric aide at the Elgin State Hospital until her retirement in 1969. Stella Mae was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and reading. She is especially remembered for her fondness of shopping and for being an “excellent” Scrabble player. During her residency in Chester, Stella Mae was a member of the “Mississippi Saints” senior citizens group. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Frankfort, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, August 26, 2013, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The service will be conducted by Stella Mae’s grandson, Rev. Jim Smith. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery, near Dongola. Visitation will be from 11 AM – 1 PM Monday, August 26, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the Mt.
