Sophie (nee Janush) Zimmerman

Sophie V. (Janush) Zimmerman,age 96 years, a resident of Metropolis, IL and a former resident of rural Vienna, IL. Passed away Friday morning, February 24, 2006, at 8:36 AM at the Tender Loving Care Assisted Living Center in Metropolis, IL. Born: August 26, 1909 in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of George B. Janush & Helen (Losin) Janush. Sophie was united in marriage to Dr. Edward A. Zimmerman on April 27, 1940 at the Thorndike Hilton Memorial Chapel in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1942. Survivors include: 2 Stepsons: Ed & Olga Zimmerman of Bronxville, NY and Fred & Janie Zimmerman of Dallas, TX 4 Step Grandchildren: Teena, Scott, Dana & Mark Cousins, including: Mike & Gail Hendryx of Houston, TX and Ann & George Skipper of Hunt, TX Dear Friends: Victor & Rajeane Watson of Simpson, IL; Darin and Lisa Shoemaker of Vienna, IL; Other relatives & many friends In addition to her Parents & Husband, Sophie was preceded in death by her beloved Sister, Josie Paske. Sophie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Northwestern University in 1955 and her MBA from the University of Chicago in 1957. Sophie served the University of Chicago in several capacities, including as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Hospital Administration for several years. She also was employed as Academic Planning Coordinator Allied Health Professions, Sangamon State University; as a consultant responsible for initiating the training programs and hospital publications at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. When Sophie retired, she moved to Johnson County to be near her dear Sister and Brother-in-Law, Josie & Chester Paske. They enjoyed country living and following Chesterƒ?Ts death, Josie and Sophie lived together and devoted their lived to each other. Sophie was heart-broken when Josie passed away on July 14, 1998, but continued to live alone until February 2004, when she went to make her home at Tender Loving Care Assisted Living Center in Metropolis, IL. She was very happy there with her ƒ?onewƒ?? family. A Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted Thursday morning, March 2, 2006, at 10 AM at Taylor Cemetery. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at approx. 9:45 AM. Contributions in Sophieƒ?Ts memory may be made to the charity of the donorƒ?Ts choice.
