Ruby Slack

Ruby L. Alford Slack Age: 86 years A resident of Cypress, IL. Passed away Wednesday evening, June 17, 2009, at 9:50 PM at her home. Ruby was born February 12, 1923 in Cairo, Illinois. She was the daughter of Ben Brown and Ethel (Lingle) Brown. Ruby was united in marriage to Henry H. Alford on March 15, 1941 in Elgin, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1957. She was later united in marriage to Bonnard F. Slack on April 20, 1968 in Vienna, IL. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2002. Survivors include: a Son - Dennis Alford, and his wife Lisa, of Cypress, IL a Daughter - Janet Hayden, and her husband Jim, of Paducah, KY Step Children - Daniel Slack of Gilman, IL Sharon Fraser of Poplar Bluff, MO Robert Slack of Poplar Bluff, MO Pamela Williamson of Metropolis, IL 2 Grandchildren - Jennifer Schuh, and her husband Kenton, of Gold Canyon, AZ Paul Jason Friedlander, and his wife Crystal, of Paducah, KY Several Great Grandchildren, Step Grandchildren, & Step Great Grandchildren. 2 Step Brothers - Jack Merideth of Cypress, IL Donald Merideth of Mt. Zion, IL a Step Sister - Martha Wilson of Michigan In addition to her Parents, Ruby was preceded in death by: a Stepson - Michael Slack Her Step Mother - Mildred Brown 3 Step Sisters - Jean Lang, Helen Dawes, & Kathy Simpson a Step Brother - William "Junior" Merideth Ruby was employed as a Psychiatric Aid at the Choate Mental Health Center in Anna, prior to her retirement on December 31, 1983. She was a member of the Cypress United Methodist Church and the Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star. She had been a member of the Eastern Star fraternity since 1947. Ruby enjoyed traveling and dearly loved her dog, "Rusty." Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 21, 2009, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Mike Sharp will officiate. Burial will be in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 PM - 8 PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
