Royce Reeder Age: 78 years A resident of Vienna, IL Passed away Sunday evening, May 25, 2008, at 6:50 PM at his home in Vienna. Royce was born December 23, 1929 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was the son of Cletus Reeder, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Humphrey) Reeder. Royce was united in marriage to Dessie Arlene (Robinson) on August 9, 1950 in Lawrenceville, IL. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2006. Survivors include: His Children: Tim & Jeannie Reeder of Shelburn, IN Bob & Kathy Reeder of Vienna, IL Mona & Matt Akins of Simpson, IL Marla & Bill Groaning of Vienna, IL Marsha & Joe Nelson of Vienna, IL Mike & Mona Reeder of Cypress, IL 20 Grandchildren 1 Step Grandson 10 Great Grandchildren Several Nieces & Nephews In addition to his Parents & Wife, Royce was preceded in death by: 2 Brothers - Walter Reeder and Cletus Hayward Reeder, Jr. a Sister - Mina Reeder Bell Royce was a 1948 graduate of Lawrenceville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a former member of the Lawrenceville, IL VFW & American Legion Posts. Royce had been employed in the zinc smelting industry, as well as a shipyard construction worker and welding manager. For many years, Royce served as the camp ranger for the Camp Ondessonk Catholic Youth Camp near Ozark, IL. He also worked as a custodian at the Vienna High School for several years. Royce enjoyed working with youth and had coached numerous baseball and softball teams throughout the years. Royce was a former member of both the Lawrenceville, IL and Metropolis, IL Moose Lodges, as well as the Blackwell, OK Civil Defense. Royce was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. In his spare time, Royce enjoyed fishing and was an avid and accomplished dancer. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, May 30, 2008, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bud McDannel will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post of Vienna. Friends may call after 6 PM Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
