Roger G. Billingsley

Roger Gene Billingsley, son of Corwin ƒ?oCobƒ?? Billingsley, was born June 27, 1934 in the Buncombe Community of Johnson County Illinois. He departed this life Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006 at 10:47 AM at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, IL. At the time of his passing, Roger had attained the age of 71 years 10 months & 20 days. Roger was united in marriage to Violet M. (Pearce) Billingsley on July 9, 1955 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, near Buncombe, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: 2 Sons ƒ?" Keith & Lynda Billingsley of Goreville, IL and Kevin & Jackie Billingsley of Gleason, TN; 5 Grandchildren ƒ?" Krista & USAF Staff Sgt. Dan Damons of Lakenheath, England, Jordan Billingsley of Gleason, TN, Joshua Billingsley, Brandi Billingsley & Jacob Billingsley all of Goreville, IL; A Sister ƒ?" Carleta Winemiller of Thompsonville, IL; A Niece & 3 Nephews; 2 Sisters-in-Law ƒ?" Geneva King of Goreville, IL & Wanda Bradley of Goreville, IL; 4 Brothers-in-Law ƒ?" Bob Pearce of Marion, IL, Calvin Pearce of Goreville, IL, Larry Pearce of Groveland, CA & Jerry Pearce of Manteno, IL. In addition to his Parents, Roger was preceded in death by: a Brother-in-Law ƒ?" Gene Pearce & a Sister-in-Law ƒ?" Tressie Colombo. Roger was a graduate of Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL. He was employed for 43 years, prior to his retirement in 1995, as a master tool & die maker by Kimble Glass, a subsidiary of Owens Illinois Glass Co., in East Chicago Heights, IL. Roger was a member of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union (formerly Glass Bottle Blowers Association). Roger was an active and dedicated member of the Masonic fraternity. He was the current Tiler and Past Master of Saline Lodge # 339 AF&AM. Roger regularly visited and fellowshipped with area lodges and was an honorary member of several lodges throughout Southern Illinois. Additionally, Roger was a member of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star. Roger was a member of the First Baptist Church in Goreville, IL. He enjoyed gardening, needlework, woodworking, and loved reading Louis Lƒ?TAmour Western Novels. Roger leaves his family & many dear friends to cherish his memory. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21, 2006, at 2 PM at the Goreville First Baptist Church. Rev. Ron Ferguson and Rev. Floyd Stout will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Buncombe, IL. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 1 PM ƒ?" 2 PM Sunday. Friends may call after 5 PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Masonic rites under the auspices of Saline Lodge # 339 AF&AM will be conducted at 7 PM Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Goreville First Baptist Church (Bldg Fund), 608 W. Main St., Goreville, IL. 62939.
