Roger Penrod

Roger Penrod, age 57 years, a resident of Cypress, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, February 27, 2016, at 2:13 PM at his home. Roger was born January 17, 1959 at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Illinois. He was the son of George & Thelma (Annable) Penrod. Roger was united in marriage to Lisa Kay Williams on May 3, 1988 in McCracken County Kentucky. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2015. Roger is survived by his mother – Thelma Penrod of Cypress; his children: Dustin (Holly) Penrod of Marion, Lacey Dodson of Cypress, and Shawn (Ashton) Penrod of Vienna; 9 grandchildren – Kaitlyn Dodson, Brayden Dodson, Cooper Dodson, Cameron Dodson, Brooklyn Penrod, Emma Penrod, Ellie Penrod, Mary Ann Futia, and Adam Penrod. Roger was anticipating the birth of a 10th grandchild to be born in July 2016. He is also survived by his sister – Kimberly (Thomas) Beasley of Tamms; his step father-in-law - Denny Skelton; his grandmother-in-law - Mary Williams of Vienna; a brother-in-law: Darand Lee (Christi) Williams of Vienna; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his wife, Roger was preceded in death by his father, George Penrod, and a son-in-law – Brandon Dodson. Roger was a graduate of Vienna High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army. Roger had been employed as a union carpenter. He also had worked for both Jerry and Richey Oliver in their automotive body repair businesses. Roger was a talented musician and guitarist. He was also gifted in drawing sketches and painting. Roger is fondly remembered for his love of spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Christian faith. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, March 2, 2016, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Kenny Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery near Dongola. Military graveside rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon – 2 PM Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
