Robert Henson

Robert “Bob” Henson Age: 71 years A resident of the Perks community. Passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, September 16, 2011, at 10:15 AM at his home near Perks. Bob was born May 29, 1940 in Thebes, Illinois. He was the son of Gabrial Henson and Opal (Poole) Henson. Bob was united in marriage to Patsy S. (nee Smith) on September 20, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Karnak, Illinois. Patsy preceded him in death on May 28, 2007. Survivors include: A Son – Robin Henson of Cypress, IL A Stepson – Phillip Long, and his wife Heather, of Ramsey, IL A Stepdaughter – Johanna Kerr, and her husband Joe, of Villa Ridge, IL 2 Grandchildren – Danielle Henson and Gary Henson A Great Granddaughter – Erin Henson 3 Step Grandchildren – Andrea Long, Jonathan Kerr, and Jacob Kerr Step Great Grandchildren A Brother – Norman Henson of Sarasota, FL A Special Friend – Jeanie Duke of Perks, IL In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by a Brother, Russell Henson Bob was a graduate of the Ullin High School. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Vienna Correctional Center, where he retired in 1997 with the rank of Lieutenant. Bob was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church and attended the Ullin Pentecostal Church. Bob loved music and especially enjoyed gospel singings. He and Jeanie traveled with the Glory Road Travelers and K & I Drifters singing groups, enjoying the inspirational and uplifting music and fellowship. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed the time he spent farming, fishing, camping and traveling. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, September 20, 2011, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother Anthony Underwood will officiate. Burial will be in the Luther’s Chapel Cemetery, near Cypress. Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
