Robert "Bob" Richardson

Robert “Bob” Richardson, Sr., age 93 years, a resident of Cypress, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026, at 8:15 A.M. at his home. Bob was born April 19, 1933 in Vienna, Illinois. He was the son of Claude Hartsell Richardson and Mary Thelma (Moake) Richardson. On June 9, 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Moake in Mounds, Illinois. Together, Bob and Sandy shared over 58 years of marriage, prior to her passing on December 30, 2025. Bob is survived by: his sons – Tracy (Christina) Richardson of Cypress, Illinois, Bobby (Melody) Richardson of Lick Creek, Illinois, Jack (Beverly) Richardson of Vienna, Illinois, and Harold Richardson of Anna, Illinois; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister – Mary Archey of Anna, Illinois; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by: a son – Robin Henson; brothers – Jerry Richardson, Sr., Claude H. Richardson, Jr., and William Hartsell Richardson; and sisters – Bonnie Moreland, Helen L. Wright, and Betty Myers. Bob was a member of the Vienna High School class of 1952. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged in 1954. During his service, Bob was stationed aboard a number of naval vessels, including the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Shangri-La. Bob was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and was employed by E.T. Simonds Construction Co. for 28 years, prior to his retirement in 2000. In his retirement, Bob assisted John and Nancy Ford in caring for their horses for a number of years. Bob was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1346 in Anna. Bob was a private gentleman and a true man of integrity. He enjoyed singing gospel music with his wife Sandy in a number of gospel groups through the years. Bob was an avid rabbit hunter and took great delight in watching his beagle dogs run and hunt. Bob was of the Christian faith. He last attended Maple Grove Baptist Church at Perks until his declining health prevented him from doing so. A graveside service honoring Bob and Sandy Richardson will be conducted Saturday morning, October 3, 2026, at 11 A.M. at Luthers Chapel Cemetery, south of Cypress. Pastor Matt Snell will officiate. Interment will follow. Those attending the service are invited to gather at the cemetery at 10:45 A.M. Saturday morning, October 3, 2026.
