Robbie Marie Ridenhower Simmons

Robbie Marie Ridenhower Simmons, daughter of Bob Ridenhower, Jr. and Alice Myrtle (Cochran) Ridenhower, was born November 8, 1915 in Vienna, IL. She departed this life December 30, 2005, at 2:10 PM at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY. At the time of her passing, Robbie had attained the age of 90 years, 1 months, and 22 days. Robbie was united in marriage to Ed Simmons on June 21, 1931 in Metropolis, IL. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1985. Survivors include: A Son ƒ?" Edward Franklin Simmons, and his wife Georgia, of Dell City, OK; 2 Daughters ƒ?" Martha Marie Perkins of Marion, IL; Sandra S. ƒ?oSusieƒ?? Trovillion, and her husband Lowell, of Grantsburg, IL; 9 Grandchildren: Janet Scheer, Jo Nortier, Ronald Ellis, Stephen Ellis, Donna Carman, Deborah Smith, Denise Turpen, Christie Gallamore, & Gary Trovillion. 13 Great Grandchildren: Emily Scheer, Lauren Nortier, Brad Ellis, Craig Ellis, Ashley Ellis, Stephen H. Ellis, Brooklyn Ellis, Cameron Barber, Brittany Turpen, Kaley Turpen, Clayton Smith, Hunter Smith, & Trever Gallamore. 2 Great-Great Grandchildren: Destiny Ellis and Lucas Ellis; a Sister-in-Law ƒ?" Jewel Day of Marion, IL; and Nieces & Nephews. In addition to her Parents & Husband, Robbie was preceded in death by: a Grandson ƒ?" Howard Edward ƒ?oHowieƒ?? Ellis; 3 Great Grandchildren ƒ?" Kaci Carman, Kyle Carman, & Neal Thomas Scheer; a Son-in-Law: Robert Jerome Perkins; 2 Sisters: Alice Brassell and Helen Ridenhower. Robbie was a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and always enjoyed having family & friends visit in her home. Robbie enjoyed the friendship of people and helping them. She was a R.S.V.P. volunteer. Robbie wrote lovely poetry which was enjoyed by many. She was a gifted artist, and enjoyed painting, sewing & ceramics. Robbieƒ?Ts husband Ed had been a member of the ƒ?oLittle Egypt String Bandƒ?? and Robbie enjoyed visiting area nursing homes and senior citizens centers with them. Robbie was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, January 2, 2006, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Interment will be in the Ledbetter Cemetery, north of Vienna. Friends may call after 3 PM Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
