Paula "Jean" Street

Paula “Jean” Street, age 62 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Wednesday morning, May 2, 2018, at 9:40 AM at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Jean, as she was affectionately known, was born May 15, 1955 in McLeansboro, Illinois. She was the daughter of Pola E. and Ruth Laverne (Thomas) Smith. On August 15, 1975, Jean was united in marriage to Roy Allen Street at the Second Baptist Church in Marion by Pastor George Smith. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by: their daughters – Tara Alisha (Andrew) Ehrhardt and Kara Alissa Carden all of Carbondale; a granddaughter – Sophia Michelle Carden; a nephew – Chris Norton; nieces – Diana Schmidt, Crystal (Curtis) Myers and Faith Ann (Cyrus) Elterman; great nephews – Daunte, Treveon, DeAndre, and CamRon Boens; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a sister – Deborah Diana Smith. Jean was a 1973 graduate of Marion High School. She had also attended John A. Logan Community College. Jean was a certified Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate. She was formerly employed by the Johnson County Ambulance Service. Jean was later employed at the Paducah Wal-Mart Supercenter (Southside) in the sporting goods department. She had also worked through Smart Company Temporary Services at Lourdes Hospital also in Paducah. Jean was a former member of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star and the Johnson County Homemaker’s Extension. She is remembered for her love of making handcrafted crochet items, particularly pot-holders which she gave to family and friends. Jean and Roy were members of the Simpson Baptist Church. A service honoring the life of Paula “Jean” Street will be held Monday afternoon, May 7, 2018 at 2PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Dale Bartley will officiate. Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery in Simpson. Visitation will be Sunday evening, May 6, 2018 from 5PM-8PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
