Patricia D. Russell

Patricia D. Russell, age 50 years, a resident of rural Goreville, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, February 16, 2018, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Patricia was born June 21, 1967 in Anna, Illinois. She was the youngest of 9 children born to John F. “Johnny” and Lowanda (Dalton) Thornton. Patricia was united in marriage to Stephen A. Russell in 1984 at the Cedar Grove Church near Buncombe. He survives. Other survivors include: a granddaughter – Kaylee Patricia Russell; a daughter-in-law – Jennie Russell of Goreville; 2 brothers – Don Joe (Ruth Ann) Thornton of Springfield and Jack (Beth) Thornton of Wolf Lake; 2 sisters – Kathy (Don) Waters and Rita (Jerry) Vaughn all of Marion; a brother-in-law – H.V. Trammell of Stonefort; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Patricia was anticipating the birth of a grandchild in September 2018. In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by: 3 brothers – John Allen Thornton, Mickey Thornton, and Glen Thornton; a sister – Sharon Kay Trammell; a sister-in-law – Peggy Thornton; and her beloved son Brandon Russell on February 15, 2018. Patricia was a graduate of Vienna High School. She had been employed as an aide by Doors Home Health Care Service. Later, Patricia worked as a cook in the food service division of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Marion. Patricia is remembered for her love of dogs, her keen eye for decorating, for enjoying early Saturday morning yard sales but particularly for her love for her granddaughter, Kaylee. A service honoring the lives of Patricia Russell and Brandon Russell will be conducted Thursday morning, February 22, 2018, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor R.G. Null will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery near Buncombe. Visitation will be conducted Wednesday evening, February 21, 2018, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to a fund which will be established for the benefit of Patricia’s granddaughter, Kaylee. Donations may be left in care of Bailey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 695, Vienna, IL 62995.
