Norris B. Lytle

Norris B. Lytle,age 70 years, a resident of rural Brookport, IL since 2002 and a former resident of Manteno, IL,passed away Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2004, at 4:59 PM at his home near Brookport, IL. Norris was born April 4, 1934 at Harvey, Illinois. He was the son of Everett G. Lytle and Mary A. (Dowden) Lytle. Norris was united in marriage to Helen (Anglin) on December 22, 1956 at the Free Methodist Church in Harvey, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: 4 Daughters - Kathy Ann Corzine of Bradley, IL; Pamela Kay Fogarty & Gary Lindstrand of Franklin, IN; Patricia Rae Quaintance of Bradley, IL; and Vicki Jo Woodard, and her husband Dennis, of Manteno, IL. 12 Grandchildren – Edward Fogarty IV, and his wife Ann; Lizz Benoit; Rebecca Corzine; Aaron Benoit; Andrew Corzine, and his wife Alicia; Allen Quaintance; Kristi Smith, and her husband Ian; Eric Quaintance; Kati Woodard; Amie Corzine; Kari Woodard; Daniel Norris Corzine; 3 Great Grandchildren - Andrew Fogarty, Connor Vinson and Cameron Vinson; Other Relatives & many dear Friends. In addition to his Parents, Norris was preceded in death by:a Granddaughter – Diana Lee Corzine; and a Brother – Edward Lytle. Norris was a 1952 graduate of the Thornton Township (Harvey, IL) High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean conflict from 1952-1956. Norris was employed as a Machine Repairman by Buda/Allis-Chalmers, Inc. in Harvey, IL for 33 years. He was later employed as a Machine Repairman by Pneumatic Techniques in Lansing, IL for 15 years, prior to his retirement in June 2002. Norris was a faithful and devoted member of the Manteno Church of the Nazarene. Since their residency in Southern Illinois, Norris & Helen have become members of the Community Christian Church at Metropolis, IL. Norris had a deep love for missions work. He had participated in missions trips to Haiti and assisted in building a church there. Norris had also participated in “work & witness” programs throughout several Midwest states. Norris was an accomplished woodworker. He loved golfing, fishing, and was a faithful Chicago Cubs fan. Norris adored his wife, children & grandchildren. He was a loving and dedicated family man. A Memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 22, 2004, at the Community Christian Church, 1150 Country Club Road, Metropolis, IL 62960. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 805 W. DeYoung St., Marion, IL. 62959; the Community Christian Church, 1150 Country Club Road, Metropolis, IL. 62960 or to the Manteno Church of the Nazarene, 698 N. Locust St., Manteno, IL 60950.
