Nancy J. Truedson

Nancy J. Truedson, age 87 years, formerly of Cypress, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, August 17, 2017, at 5:20 PM at her residence at The Anchor at River to River Residential Community in Marion. Nancy was born December 14, 1929 in Fairport, New York. She was the daughter of Clarence E. and Frances (Watley) Grabb. On June 26, 1970, Nancy was united in marriage to Russell Dale Truedson in Aurora, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2009. Survivors include: her children – Nancy of Nebraska, Monie of Nebraska, Caryn of Vienna, Carol of Buda, Jane of Illinois, Alice of Nevada, Cathy of Florida, Kathy of Colorado, Truedy of California, Annette of Colorado, Rusty of Colorado, Erik of Princeton, David of Florida, and Gus of Maryland; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as Jeff and Sonny, to whom Nancy opened her heart and her home. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by a son, Hal. Nancy graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She earned a double major in education and art. Nancy was a lifelong educator. She began her teaching career in Ohio where she taught first grade students. She later spent many years teaching in the Batavia, Illinois School System and concluded her educational career in California. Nancy was a member of the League of Women Voters when she resided in Batavia. Additionally, she had served on the Cypress, Illinois Village Board. Nancy enjoyed attending auctions and flower gardening. She is fondly remembered for her love of children. Her legacy is her family and the lives and minds that she touched during her teaching career. A memorial service honoring the life of Nancy J. Truedson will be conducted Saturday morning, August 26, 2017, at 11 AM at the Cypress Cemetery. 5847 1st Street, Cypress, Illinois. Father Tom Barrett will officiate. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 10:45 AM Saturday. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the Cypress Elementary School, 4580 Mt. Pisgah Road, Cypress, IL 62923 There will be no visitation.
