Myrtle I. Breeden Mizell

Myrtle I. Breeden Mizell, daughter of Rolla Anson Gurley & Margaret Edith (Ward) Gurley, was born September 24, 1910 east of Cobden, Illinois in the Water Valley region of Union County. She departed this life Friday morning, March 25, 2005, at 2:30 AM at the Hilltop House in Creal Springs, Illinois. At the time of her passing, Myrtle had attained the age of 94 years 6 months & 1 day. Myrtle was united in marriage to Howard Breeden on October 9, 1931 in Jackson County Illinois. He preceded her in death in February 1963. Myrtle was later united in marriage to Orval Mizell on October 7, 1978 in Simpson, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1997. Survivors include: 2 Daughters ƒ?" Doris & Bill Lingle of Goreville, IL and Judy & David Pierson of Las Vegas, NV; 3 Sons ƒ?" Wayne & Letha Breeden of Vienna, IL, Ray & Nancy Breeden of Buncombe, IL, and Gene Breeden of Boulder City, NV; 2 Stepdaughters ƒ?" Phyllis & Gale McGowan of Vienna, IL and Sue & Don Jelley of Mooresville, IN; 13 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great Grandchildren; 5 Step Grandchildren; 7 Step Great Grandchildren; and a Niece. In addition to her Parents & Husbands, Myrtle was preceded in death by: 2 Sons ƒ?" Forrest Breeden & Glenn Breeden; and a Brother ƒ?" Oscar Gurley. Myrtle attended the University High School in Carbondale, IL. She was employed for 13 years as a cook at the Vienna High School. Myrtle had also been employed for 7 years as a clerk at the P.N. Hirsch and Discount Variety Stores both in Vienna. Previously, she had worked as a cook at the Alldredge CafÇ¸ in Vienna for 3 years. Myrtle was a member of Pond Community Ladies Club. She was a member of Whistlers & Whittlers Senior Citizens program. Myrtle was a faithful member of the Vienna First Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting & crafts. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, March 28, 2005, at 10:30 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Interment will be in the Glendale Cemetery in Pope County Illinois. Friends may call after 5 PM Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
