M. Helen Bullock

M. Helen Bullock Age: 92 years A resident of Vienna and a former resident of the Grantsburg community. Passed away Friday afternoon, January 1, 2010, at 3:50 PM at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY. Helen was born February 28, 1917 in the Samoth community in Massac County Illinois. She was the daughter of Walter Cagle and Clemmie (Etta) Holmes Cagle. Helen was united in marriage to Hillis R. Bullock on April 28, 1934 in Massac County Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1992. Survivors include: Her Children - Shirley Joann Hall of Marion, IL Barbara Jean Branche, and her husband Alfred, of Creal Springs IL Henry W. Bullock, and his wife Frances, of Grantsburg, IL Mary Sue Jenkins of Paducah, KY Patricia Lynn Reiter, and her husband Dennis, of Paducah, KY 14 Grandchildren - Linda Callier, Julie Wagner, Rebecca Rushing, Gerald L. Hall, Jr, Susan Joy Padilla, Jill Ann Hall, Penelope Anne Pistono, Cynthia Jean Laspesa, Brent Alan Bullock, Brandon Frederick Bullock, Michael Christopher Johnson, David Matthew Johnson, Heather Hauck, & Clint Dowd Several Great Grandchildren & Great-Great Grandchildren Nieces & Nephews Special Friends - Frances Moore, Vickie Noble, Mary Smith & Ethel Williams In addition to her Parents & Husband, Helen was preceded in death by: a Daughter - Joyce Elaine Henry a Grandson - John E. Smith, Jr. 2 Sons-in-Law - Gerald L. Hall and Guy Morgan Jenkins an Infant Brother - David Cagle 3 Brothers - Edward Cagle, Howard Cagle, & Kenneth Cagle 3 Sisters - Inez Allbritten, Freda Chamberlain, & Dorothy Hill Helen attended the New Columbia High School. She operated the Grantsburg General Store for 21 years. Helen was also the first cook at the Grasty Public School when a school lunch program was begun. Helen was a member of the Dixon Springs Methodist Church and later attended the Countryside Christian Church at Vienna. Helen enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, gardening, canning, and styling hair for family & friends. She was a multi-talented individual, who will be long remembered for her keen sense of humor, her outgoing spirit and willingness to help others. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
