Maurice E. LeGault

Maurice E. LeGault A resident of rural Vienna, Illinois. Passed away Thursday morning, June 14, 2012, at 10:22 AM at the Life Care Center of La Center, Kentucky. Maurice was the son of Lawrence Joseph and Lucille Corrine (Cline) LeGault. He was born in Hettinger, North Dakota. Maurice is survived by his wife Bonnita Kay (Davis) LeGault with whom he was united in marriage in 1988 in Durango, Colorado. Other survivors include: His Daughters & Sons-in-Law - Julie Ann & Myron Carlson of Foley, MN Michelle Rae LeGault & Michael Gaertner of Atlanta, GA 2 Grandchildren – Jenna Rae Carlson and Logan Joseph Carlson His In-Laws - Gerald & Judy Miller of Vienna, IL Wendel & Gena Davis of Anna, IL A Brother-in-Law & Sister-in-Law – Jerry & Dimitria Davis of Staunton, IL A Niece – Shawna Morrison A Nephew – Dustin Davis And a host of other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by his older brother, Robert LeGault. Maurice earned his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D degrees from the University of Minnesota. He was an educator in the field of vocal music and began his teaching career in the Cambridge, Minnesota public school system. He later taught at the college and university level in New Mexico, South Dakota, Colorado, Oklahoma, as well as in the Chicago, Illinois area and locally at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Maurice also directed a number of choral and musical performances during his professional career. Concurrent with his musical teaching career, Maurice also continued the operation of LeGault Floor Finishing, a family business founded by his father in 1934. Maurice was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti, Minnesota in 1964. Maurice had a true zest for life and a strong work ethic. He never wanted to be bored or waste time. Maurice enjoyed singing, listening to music, traveling, reading magazines and keeping up with current events and politics. He especially cherished the time he spent with his family & friends. A celebration of Maurice’s life will be held Saturday morning, June 16, 2012, at 10:30 AM at pavilion # 2 in the Vienna City Park. It is the request of the family that those attending should dress casually and comfortably. The family will receive friends from 10 AM – 10:30 AM Saturday at the park. The preferred form of remembrance would be memorials to the American Lung Association, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62711-6226 or to the American Cancer Society, 4503 W. DeYoung St., Suite 200C, Marion, IL 62959.
