Maryln Peterman

Maryln Rose (Johnson) Peterman, age 69 years, a resident of rural Metropolis, Illinois and a native of Simpson, passed away Friday morning, April 28, 2023, at 9:12 AM at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. Maryln was born October 20, 1953 at the home of her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Annie Trigg, at Simpson, Illinois. She was the daughter of Richard R. and Sarah (Trigg) Johnson. Maryln was formerly united in marriage to Larry Duncan and later to John Robert Peterman. She is survived by: her sons – Joe Duncan of Metropolis, Steven Duncan and Robert Peterman both of Simpson, a “special princess” niece – Carmen Waldon of Joppa; 10 grandchildren – Joshua Duncan, Aaron Duncan, Emily Duncan, Nicole Duncan, Lily Duncan, Seth Duncan, John Peterman, James Peterman, Jacob Peterman, and Sarah Peterman; several great grandchildren; her siblings – Elizabeth Ann (Roy) Kerley of Simpson, Debra (Rodney) Crim of the Brownfield community, Richard Johnson of Vienna, Janet Sue (Norman) Hill of the Rosebud community, and Karen Dean (Larry) Bullock of Ozark; her partner of 28 years, Harold Ford, of Metropolis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. Maryln is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Fanny Mae. In addition to her parents, Maryln was preceded in death by a grandson – Christopher Duncan; a brother – William Joseph Johnson; and 2 daughters-in-law – Rhonda Duncan and Lynn Duncan. Maryln attended Vienna High School and she also attended and received a number of certifications from Shawnee Community College. Maryln had been employed by local area nursing and long term care facilities. Through the years, she worked as a nurse’s aide, in the physical therapy department, and in the activities department. Later, Maryln was employed as a cage supervisor by Harrah’s Casino in Metropolis. Maryln enjoyed fishing. She also loved animals and was especially fond of her miniature pinschers. Maryln enjoyed maintaining her koi fish pond. Visitation will be conducted Tuesday evening, May 2, 2023, from 6 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A prayer service will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday. Pastor Benny Heady will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Rock Springs Cemetery near Simpson.
