Mary A. (Leist) Hensley

Mary Anna (Leist) Hensley, daughter of Joseph L. Leist & Jennie Etta (Estes) Leist, was born December 23, 1920 in Vienna, IL. She departed this life Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2007, at 12:36 PM at Parkway Manor in Marion, IL. At the time of her passing, Mary had attained to the age of 87 years and 7 days. Mary was united in marriage to William ƒ?oBillyƒ?? Hensley on May 20, 1942 in Hernando, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1990. Survivors include: 2 Sons - James Lewis & Nikki Hensley of Highland, IL and William Joseph & Ginger Hensley of Hemet, CA; 2 Daughters - Judith Ann Hayden of Vienna, IL and Jennifer Lynn & Robert Dunbar of Marion, IL; 9 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters - Ruth Trovillion of Vienna, IL and Josephine & Luther Davis of Anna, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews. In addition to her Parents & Husband, Mary was preceded in death by: a Son-in-Law ƒ?" John Hayden; a Brother ƒ?" William F. Leist; a Sister ƒ?" Dorothy May Willard Jones. Mary was a lifelong Registered Nurse. She completed her nurseƒ?Ts training on April 17, 1942 at St. Maryƒ?Ts Hospital School of Nursing in Cario, IL. She first worked as a nurse for Dr. L.L. Jackson, MD in Vienna, IL, later working at the Anna State Hospital, for Quadri-County Health Dept. in Vienna, IL, then at the A.L. Bowen Center in Harrisburg, IL. Mary completed her professional career as the school nurse and nursing instructor at Vienna High School, where she was also the H.O.S.A. (Health Occupation Students of America) sponsor for many years. Mary was also a longtime member of the American Nurseƒ?Ts Association. Mary was a loving & compassionate Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and dear friend to many. She was a woman of strong Christian values & character. Mary was a member of the Vienna First United Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed outside gardening. Mary leaves her family and friends to cherish her memory. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, January 2, 2008, at 10 AM at the Vienna First United Methodist Church. Rev. Lance Leeds and Rev. Larry Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 PM Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
